Impressions of Work: Clay
Ceramics are made from clay, which is basically decomposed granite. However, careful analysis and selection of the right clay for the right job is crucial in delivering a good product. From here, the ancient art of ceramics begins with the mixing and wedging of the clay to ensure no air is trapped in the clay because high temperatures are used to harden the clay. Trapped air can cause dangerous and disasterous explosions, wrecking not only the item containing air but also damage other products that may be fired at the same time.
